Regardless of what field you go into, almost every business has social media facets and a brand kit/style guide, so it can only benefit you to get a head start on learning what it’s like to make sure everything you do fits into a specific brand. Your brand doesn’t have to be applied strictly to social media–it can also be a way to have a style guide for your professional life across the board with things like a portfolio, websites, resumes, business cards and more.
In most careers, creating a body of work is important whether it consists of research, reports, projects, or even your social media stream. Especially in a creative field, it is important to have a polished portfolio to showcase what you know how to do and what you are good at.
They say college is the best four years of your life. While that may be true, there is a lot more to your undergrad than sleeping through 9am classes and attending a Friday night party (or any other night of the week for that matter). College is about earning your degree but it is also about putting in the time to learn and advance yourself in your career.
While my experience as a millennial, college graduate in a big city is on an upward climb, many of us are not so lucky. I may be young and employed, but my journey is nowhere close to over and I am ready to share anything and everything I have learned, thus far.
