It is a great article. It does describes generations, which are great in a macro level.

However, on the micro level, everyone is different. You find people that behave like generations ahead or behind.

On the workplace, I think it is important for upper management (owners, president, executive VP's) to create groups of people that are flexible enough to work with people from multiple generations and mature enough to only accept a job that meets their financial and emotional needs.

Great and hard working people tend to enjoy being close to people like them, regardless of how young or old they are. They enjoy learning from each other, and they find ways to please each other as a way to promote that information exchange that helps them grow their careers. They almost need no specialty management, no pats on the back - just a paycheck that feeds their families. Since they are great, they tend to be capable of changing jobs in a matter of weeks if they are not happy with the current one.

Companies should be very quick to terminate any employees that do not fit - be it because the company doesn't provide what they want or because they do not provide the value needed. Otherwise they risk making the company un-enjoyable to those that are more capable to adapt and more willing to work hard.

I'm sorry, but I think what/who you are talking about its not a generation of people, but a specific KIND of people. I know way too many people of our age that are just as Generation Y (Millennials) as the rest.

The world is over populated with the average Joe, and that has nothing to do with generations, (they were here before we were born) its all about professionalism, and that is hard to find.
